Dr. Byron Kalliatakis
- Dr. Byron has a vast experience in the field of Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology
- He completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Cardiology at Baragwanath Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa from 1989 to 1995. He completed the initial course and qualified as a Specialist Physician in 1993. This was followed by a 2 year fellowship program, and he qualified as a Cardiologist in 1995
- He continued to work as a Senior Consultant in Medicine and Cardiology at Baragwanath Hospital till 1999, before venturing into private practice
- He has worked as a Consultant in Cardiology at various reputable private hospitals in South Africa (Flora Clinic and Milpark Hospital) and UAE (Mediclinic City Hospital). He has thus far performed Coronary Interventions (Angioplasty/Stent procedures) on over 6000 patients.
- He has also participated in several multi-centre research studies and registries, as well as Basic Science Stem Cell Research. He still maintains a keen interest in Stem Cell Research
- He was also one of the initial participants of the pioneering ‘multi-vessel stenting trials’ which started in the late 90’s, and continued with the ‘DES’ trials thereafter
